Is Plastic Surgery What I Need?

Lately, I’ve been peering closely at myself.

Should I have some work done?

Friends my age have confessed to facelifts, and they look mahhhhvelous.

The local lifestyle mag boasts 4 plastic surgery ads per page.
Somebody’s buying, or they couldn’t afford the space.

The question is, “Where would I start?”

I’ve read the tabloid headlines about starlets “addicted” to the knife

Perfection one incision away, just out of reach

Lucky for me, I don’t have that kind of money

And even if I did, would I spend it on a younger me?

How, exactly, would life be better on liposuction?

Would a tummy tuck bring more fulfilling work?

A boob job – yes, that’s the ticket!

These DD torpedoes would get lopped, then lifted

I’d even donate my surplus to fill someone’s B cup

Was a time the term MILF could have applied.

But my son’s friends were way too young for sex.

Thank God! The whole MILF thing creeps me out.

So do I want to become a cougar?

Draw sexual tension to my middle-aged self?

I’ve given the matter much thought.

And come to the conclusion that yes,

I would like some work done.

First, I’d like my shoulders broadened

To better bear life’s burdens,

For myself and for others

My heart’s pretty strong

But I’d like it to be fuller

More tolerant ,

And definitely more kind

My lap, already generous

Could be made more comfortable

I practice with cats for the arrival of grandbabies

My brain – now there’s a spot needs constant attention!

Let me remember

It’s a work in progress

And finally, my voice

It’s mine and mine alone

If it is to last my final decades

I must work to keep it in shape

Expressing the woman I am

Ringing true with the truth of me

Never fake or phony,

Definitely not plastic!

I like it! So much emphasis has been put on our 'outside" that few look to work on our 'inside' :D (...can you tell my outside has a few extra bumps? LOL!)

Mighty Mom profile image

I sometimes think we must acquire bumps to acquire wisdom. Comes with the territory, doesn't it? Thanks for visiting!

I thought gray hair was the access to wisdom!?! Hmmm...bumps and lumps are the way to go huh? :) I have actually had some work done and wether it be for the better or not it really did help me with my self confidence and self esteem. It may not have been Gods plan to have me look the way I do now but I don't think he minds so much. We've talked recently and he is pretty proud of me. :) I must say the inner work is ALOT harder to achieve than the outer, but so much more worth it. Thank you MM!

Hi Lynn,

Good for you! I truly believe we are meant to feel comfortable and confident as we walk around in our bodies. Not be slaves to the mirror or the scale, but feel GOOD. I'm definitely not against work. If I had the money (and that's a consideration)I can think of a few areas I'd "update."

Meantime, the inner work is necessary for us to feel good about ourselves, too!

Glad you came by and shared. Best, MM

Ha ha. I think there's a special jerk-repellent anti-pheremone spray available:-)!

I just want to cast my vote on the big boob surgery issue. Believe it or not guys appreciate women for many reasons and if we are going to concentrate on just the physical - guys, myself included enjoy all shapes and sizes. Save the cash for a vacation and enjoy the hooters you were born with.

Mighty Mom profile image

Mighty Mom Hub Author 2 years ago

Ha ha, Mr. Mom. I wasn't born with these, nor did I have this uber-boobage until I hit menopause. I guess the good news is I'll have a soft cushy place for grandchildren to nestle.

However, my son is only 18 and I don't want/expect him to get married or have babies anytime soon!

But thanks for your very sensible vote of confidence that beautiful women come in all shapes and sizes!!MM

I like the way you wrote the hub. I can always find something I would change a little as I age but doubt I will so a thing about it. It is expensive and it doesn't always turn out great, but I understand why many do get some help. Good hub.

Mighty Mom Hub Author 2 years ago

Thanks, Pamela. I guess I feel fortunate to hang in a group that values the mind, heart and spirit over the physical appearance. I spent so many years being a slave to the gym. Did it make me a good person? No.

Aging is not fun, but it considering the alternative....

Thanks again for visiting. MM

I think you've got it spot on. Improvements on the inside will DEFINITELY show on the outside. Part of a person's glow comes from how they feel on the inside.

Hello Springboard. You are definitely my kind of man!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. MM

I have always said that I am going to get breast implants. Not for anyone else but for myself. To feel comfortable with my own body. I know that no matter what we should love what god gave us, but I feel that god gave me a great start and my kids' kinda took that away. lol. If only I had the "before kids" body and still have my precious kids. Oh well, life goes on. Thanks for the wonderful hub. Glad to be a fan.

Mighty Mom Hub Author 2 years ago

Hi Sunshyne 1975. I totally understand where you are coming from. It IS possible to get back into shape post kids, but it requires a LOT of work. And if you're going to spend all that time on working out, aren't you taking time away from the kids:-)?

I would be more than happy to "donate" to your breast implants anytime!!

Thanks for visiting. MM

What a wonderful hub! We all see flaws in ourselves that sometimes, others don't even seem to notice. Sure, it'd be nice to get that pre-baby body back but much like a well-decorated general, I love that my body reflects who I am today!

MM I really enjoyed this hub (as always :) I have given a tummy tuck a lot of thought and i must say that sadly enough...a more slender or firm woman (regardless of age or experience) will win out in the hiring process almost everytime. Society has truly become obsessed with looks and that sux!

Hi DT,

You are (sadly) so right. That's why I write on the INTERNET and use a MM AVATAR (as do you:-). No one can see my cellulite here on Hub Pages! Thanks for your thoughtful comment.MM

I agree with Mr. Mom about many men appreciating women of all shapes and sizes, and honestly if a man only appreciates a woman for physical pefection, he's not much of a man. Don't get me wrong, physical attraction is part of the chemistry, but it's not everything. HOWEVER, if a person wants to make a change for their own self esteem, and not someone elses, more power to them. Just do your research and get a good doctor. Good hub Mighty Mom!

Hey JinnyMarte! Nice work getting busy. Leaving comments on people's hubs, writing hubs yourself and (if you have the stomach for it!) contributing to the forums will get you known and that's a good thing around here!

Good work MM - I can barely type from hugging my own torpedoes, they got quite a jolt from just reading .. 'lopping off'!! what a waste that would be. so you cant see yur feet so what..LOL

Mighty Mom profile image

Mighty Mom Hub Author 20 months ago

Well hello,Lucy! I get a grin whenever I see your avatar.

Glad to have you in the "au naturelle" camp. The only advantage I can really see to lopping them off would be reduction of my overall weight by about 40 lbs. LOL!

Ok, maybe only 25. But still.....

Thanks so much for visiting and "supporting" *wink, wink*
